Water Wells Initiative
AGI’s Water Wells Initiative focuses on digging deep wells intended to improve safer water access to Zambian villages. These wells with clean water, reduce the spread of waterborne diseases, protect community health, and ensure that villagers have consistent access to clean water.
Irrigation Systems for Agriculture
By implementing irrigation systems, AGI has helped villages sustain agriculture during dry seasons. With access to reliable water sources, communities have begun cultivatinf crops year-round, improving food security and economic independence.
Building Water Towers
In addition to wells, AGI has continued to construct water towers to store and distribute water more efficiently. These towers provide a stable water supply to meet the daily needs of villagers and support future growth, even in times of scarcity.
Maintaining proper borewell maintenance
Archangel Group International (AGI) works alongside local village communities in Zambia to teach residents how to properly operate, care for, and maintain the borewells and hand pumps installed in their villages. Through hands-on education and practical guidance, we help communities understand the importance of protecting their water sources, performing routine maintenance, and identifying potential problems before they become major issues. Our goal is to promote local ownership and responsibility, ensuring these vital water sources continue providing clean, safe drinking water for families for many years to come.

Verified Project Cost
Approximately $2,900 USD per borewell.
Project Deliverables
Your donation helps fund a community borewell drilled to a depth of up to 100 meters, including 4-inch PVC casing, a Mark II hand pump, and a concrete apron. Drilling to this depth helps us access groundwater sources that can provide safe drinking water, subject to appropriate water-quality testing.
Site Selection and Groundwater Assessment
Every borewell location is carefully evaluated before drilling begins. AGI works with licensed site readers who conduct professional site assessments to identify promising groundwater locations. Once potential sites have been identified, our team surveys the surrounding area to determine whether additional borewells may be needed and to assess the broader community's access to groundwater.
This process helps us select locations with the potential to serve as many families as possible while considering the sustainability of the water source. Although no assessment can guarantee that a borewell will never run dry, careful site selection and groundwater evaluation help reduce risks and support the long-term success of each project.

Maintenance and Sustainability Plan.
A borewell is only the beginning of our commitment. After installation, AGI and our drilling partners train community members in proper pump operation, routine maintenance, and responsible water-source management. This training helps local communities care for their borewells, identify maintenance needs early, and protect their investment for years to come.
Our goal is not simply to install a pump and leave. We want communities to have the knowledge and support needed to maintain access to clean water long after the drilling team has departed.
